Coco Jones of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is the ideal actress to play Ororo Monroe, a.k.a. Storm, in a Marvel Studios film.
One of the most beloved comic book franchises is the X-Men. The Marvel team has been hitting readers in the heart with meaningful and thought-provoking narratives for decades. Furthermore, their best characters are always multi-layered and evolving. The majority of this, though, hasn’t transferred effectively in the movies.
A handful of the X-Men movies have been excellent. However, the vast majority of them have been mediocre at best. They’ve been unwatchable at their worst. It’s harsh, but it’s true.
One of the most serious issues was the casting of one of the most well-known characters in comic books. Storm, the goddess, is the subject of this writer’s discussion.
Storm, starring Halle Berry, was met with mixed reviews. This writer will not disparage her since she was not as awful as others would have you believe. Storm by Alexandra Shipp is impossible to assess because she was never given enough development or screen time – something she herself hinted at WonderCon a few years ago, saying:
“… Storm barely has anything to say as it is. I don’t know about [the other actors] but like we never talk. So it would be really nice if we weren’t piled into yet another jam-packed cast, in which you only see me in the back of the shot like f***ing sasquatch.”
Thankfully, Marvel Studios has regained control of the situation. As a result, the next actor to play Storm should be a good fit. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s casting track record speaks for itself.
However, if this writer had to choose someone to play Storm, he’d choose Coco Jones from the Peacock blockbuster Bel-Air. The presence of Marvel’s Storm is felt by Coco Jones.
This writer binge-watched all of the Bel-Air episodes over the course of a weekend. It’s not quite as good as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but it’s still a great program. Coco Jones, who played Hilary Banks and radically transformed the part, is one of the persons that contribute to the show’s success.
Coco Jones isn’t playing a money-obsessed spoilt brat. Hilary wants to fend for herself and create her own money. She’s demonstrated this by evicting herself from the Banks’ mansion, moving out on her own, and attempting to build her own social media empire.
This writer has noticed similarities between Coco Jones and Storm throughout the series. It’s not just her dark skin (which this writer thinks is a prerequisite) and statuesque attractiveness. She’s also shown other qualities that make her the ideal candidate.
Coco Jones’ presence is the most important aspect. Whenever she was on screen, she was the center of attention. When she spoke, she exuded strength, and her stance reflected it. Her head was always held high, and she towered over everyone. Physically, no. Even when she wasn’t speaking, she seemed to be the center of attention. Her on-screen presence is undeniable.
This is one of Storm’s most pressing requirements. Storm does not require the title of leader to be in command. T’Challa, Cyclops, and Professor Xavier are all leaders who know when to defer to her. This may be seen in her positions in Krakoa and Arakko.
