Afrobeats artist Wizkid’s previous Billboard Hot 100 record has been broken by Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, a talented singer, songwriter, and performer from Nigeria.
Wizkid, the lead singer and owner of Starboy, previously held the record for the highest-ranking Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 when his hit single “Essence,” which featured Tems and Justin Bieber, climbed at No. 9 on the list.
The 22-year-old Rema beat Wizkid’s record on a chart scheduled for March 25th, 2023, according to an update from the official Billboard chart Twitter account on March 21st, 2023.
The singer’s worldwide smash “Calm Down,” which also includes Selena Gomez, landed at No. 8, making it the highest-ranking Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 list to date. Congratulations Rema Boy!
