Wendy Shay, the female musician in Ghana with the most streams in 2022, has achieved yet another triumph with the 2023 iteration of the “Shay Concert.”
On Saturday, January 7, 2023, hundreds of music enthusiasts and admirers of Wendy Shay arrived to the West Hills Mall forecourt for the third installment of the event, which was powered by Ruff Town Records and sponsored by Ebony Condoms.
Through her charity and Rufftown Records, Wendy Shay planned a free health test and a vaccination session at the same location before the event, which got underway about 7 o’clock.
When the show finally started, the award-winning singer-songwriter wowed the audience with an hour of nonstop, energizing performance while dishing out timeless tunes from her discography.
She periodically took a break to speak with her fans and proclaim her status as the best female artist in Ghana right now, a title she has undoubtedly earned.
In addition to Wendy Shay, who was the main performer that evening, she was backed by some of Ghana’s best musicians as well as her fellow performers.
Fans at the performance had a memorable evening thanks to performers including Fameye, Sister Afia, Eno Barony, Amerado, Ras Kuuku, Kwame Yogot, Larruso, Bosom Pyung, Kwaku Darlington, Darkovibes, Malcolm Nuna, and many more.
As music fans filled every square inch of the forecourt, memories were made. The Accra-Kasoa route saw a severe traffic jam as a result of the enormous throng that filled the streets to the limit. Over 20,000 individuals, by one estimate, attended.
The inaugural “Shay Concert” took held in 2018, and a second version will take place in 2019.
The COVID-19 epidemic, which essentially brought down the whole planet in 2022, forced Wendy Shay and her managers to put the event on hold.
