Sarkodie has commented on an allegation that a government organization paid a significant sum of 100,000 cedis for a documentary that lasted three minutes.
According to an audit report, this claim was made on November 7 by the X account Ghana Crimes, claiming that the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) paid 100,000 cedis for a three-minute video documentary about management that Yaw Pare Photography was granted through sole-sourcing.
Sarkodie provided a conditional defense after the post began to receive traction on social media, pointing out the high price of talent in the creative business. To bolster his claim, he also cited a recent production that he had personally funded.
He said in a tweet, “You guys need to get educated if you’re skeptics about the expense of a three-minute document, but I don’t know the specifics and if there’s proof that she lied, then that’s an issue. Our space (creative business) is quite expensive, therefore my tour “announcement” video—not a documentary or music video—was similar to that price (of course camera, concept, etc. will play part).
