Wave Africa, the organizers of the TF Hostel Reunion Rave Artiste Night show, which was to feature Shatta Wale, released a statement addressing the “misconceptions” regarding the event’s cancellation.
According to Wave Africa, James Topp Nelson Yankah Hall executives reached out two months ago to have them provide an artist and organize the event.
After two months of discussions, a formal contract was signed on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Wave Africa secured a deal with Shatta Wale to perform and release his promotional poster.
They arranged additional security measures with law enforcement to ensure safety.
Despite these efforts, on Saturday, June 8, campus security interrupted the setup and sound check, citing an “order from above.” Wave Africa sent a delegation to meet with the Dean of Students and were informed the event could proceed without Shatta Wale’s performance.
Wave Africa complied with this directive but expressed disappointment at the last-minute ban on Shatta Wale’s performance.
The statement concluded with an apology to the fans and mentioned possible legal action after discussions with all involved parties.
“We deeply apologize to the fans for being unable to deliver Shatta Wale’s performance as promised.
We have referred the matter to our legal team and are trying to contact all stakeholders involved. Thank you,” the statement read.
