Universities will begin using a hybrid education system with several models on Monday. This approach includes both in-person and online learning.
As of April 3, 2023, for the spring term of the 2022–2023 academic year, the new choices taken in the wake of the earthquake will be put into effect, according to professor Erol Özvar, head of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
The administrations of the universities gathered information about the initiative and distributed it to their students.
Universities now offer students the choice of attending classes in person or online as a result of YÖK’s decision, according to a report by Anadolu Agency (AA), which cited many university rectors.
Universities have chosen many models that will be used to execute the hybrid education system, which enables students by providing both face-to-face and distance learning.
Several colleges will implement hybrid education during the COVID-19 term using the technology infrastructure they built in the classrooms.
With the exception of those programs that require students to complete practical training, universities will administer the midterm examinations using distance learning techniques during the spring semester.
As this was going on, YÖK announced online classes for higher education and continued the statewide shutdown of schools and colleges following the devastating earthquakes. Due to accusations that distant learning hampers academic advancement, the decision sparked student protests and calls for its revision.
On February 6, earthquakes with a Kahramanmaraş epicenter impacted 11 regions in the southeast. The catastrophe devastated a large portion of the nation and stunned everyone.
