According to Savage, her right to life is directly threatened by Davido’s conduct.
The police are investigating Tiwa Savage‘s petition, a Nigerian singer and songwriter, alleging that Grammy nominee David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has threatened and harassed her.
This was announced on Wednesday in Lagos by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson.
“I can attest that the petition was received by us. We’ve started our probe,” he declared.
According to NAN, Savage accused Davido of using derogatory language in a January 9 appeal to Lagos State Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade in response to a post that included both her and the singer’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu, on Instagram.
Nevertheless, she stated that she thereafter received calls from others she knew asking questions about her relationship with Sophia and what she had done to annoy Davido.
“I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, and Adeleke,” the petition said in part.
“On December 23, I uploaded a picture of myself and Sophia Momodu to Instagram Stories, a feature that lets users upload photos for 24 hours. Adeleke then messaged my manager, who is also a member of his management team, telling him not to worry and telling me not to speak to him at all because I was making fun of him and insulting him by using extremely hurtful, nasty, and disparaging language.
“I responded to Mr David Adeleke’s message and told him not to reach out to me, especially as I feel like I have been there for him and his daughter, Imade, and more importantly when he lost his son.”
Savage went on to say that Davido’s acts were immoral and might be seen as a direct danger to her rights to life, privacy, and dignity, which are protected in Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 Constitution Chapter 4 (as modified).
She claims that this is starting to feel to me and the other members of my team like some kind of online and offline harassment.
“Chapter 4 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 Constitution (as amended) guarantees rights to life, privacy, and dignity of person; David Adeleke’s actions are unethical and constitute a direct threat to these rights,”
Additionally, they violate the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015’s Section 24(2)(a).
“Therefore, I would want to file this complaint and declare that I want the Nigerian Police Force to hold David Adeleke accountable if something unfortunate or damaging were to happen to me or any member of my family.
“I am available to answer any questions or provide any additional information regarding this matter,” she stated.
