‘That S–t Hurt My Feelings,’ Lil Nas X Sings About Losing All 5 Grammy Nominations

In the spontaneous video, the rapper sings, “That s—t finna make me cry.”

Lil Nas X was bigger than life at the 2022 Grammy Awards on Sunday night (April 3) with an opulent, provocative performance of tunes from his album of the year-nominated record, Montero, which included an assist from Jack Harlow. The “Industry Baby” rapper, on the other hand, walked away from the ceremony with no award and expressed his disappointment on social media.

After the show, the 22-year-old rapper shared a humorous video on Instagram in which he passionately sang an improvised song about his regret about missing out. “I ain’t win no Grammys, that s–t hurt my feelings, that s–t finna make me cry,” Lil Nas sings exaggeratedly in the mirror, recording himself. “I won zero Grammys out of a possible five.” That s–t, that s–t, that s–t, that s–t, that s–t, that s–t, that s–t

When a fan posted the video on Twitter, he retweeted it, and it was liked by none other than Phoebe Bridgers, who knows what it’s like to be left out of the Grammys. Last year, she lost all four of her nominations, including the best new artist award, which went to Megan Thee Stallion. She playfully tweeted from the 2021 ceremony, “Stop the count,” before adding, “Jk Megan you’re a f–king legend.”

Lil Nas would have won his third Grammy if he had won any of the awards he was up for, which included record, song of the year, and best music video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” having already won two in 2020 with “Old Town Road” for best pop duo/group performance and best music video alongside Billy Ray Cyrus. Unfortunately, a new award was not in the rapper’s plans.

You can’t keep Lil Nas X down for long, though. The next day, he tweeted, “Last night was my favorite performance yet.” “It was an enjoyable evening in overall. We didn’t win any Grammys, but that only means we have to work even more! “I adore you guys.”
