Recently, well-known gospel musician Sonnie Badu revealed how much he admires Davido and Burna Boy, two big names in modern music.
In an open discussion, Sonnie Badu revealed how these two musicians’ artistic adventures and experiences inspire him.
“I like to learn what Davido and Burna Boy are doing so I can do it in the gospel space. I am inspired by them because I have seen the kind of music they create.” It would be a lie to suggest that I don’t hear and like secular music; I do. To identify where I might improve, I do listen to secular music,” he remarked.

He also emphasized how important it is to take inspiration from other musicians and genres, not just gospel music.
Sonnie was reacting to the feelings he had sparked on social media with his song “Spotify Wrapped.”
The popular Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie was Sonnie Badu’s most-streamed musician for 2023, defying expectations that the list would be dominated by Christian music.
People in Ghana had assumed that Sonnie’s list would mostly highlight his Christian beliefs. Ghanaians were shocked and surprised to learn about Sonnie Badu’s unexpectedly wide range of musical tastes on social media.
