Ghana’s Black Stars were eliminated from the current Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup after failing to earn enough points to move on.
Ghana entered the game remembering the 2010 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal, which was played in South Africa. Following a victory over South Korea, the West Africans had three points after two games and just needed a point against Uruguay to guarantee a berth in the Round of 16.
Andre Ayew’s missed penalty was the game’s standout moment, but Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s goals weren’t enough to advance the South Americans to the round of 16.
