For many years, Afrobeats enthusiasts have been privy to a simmering rivalry between Ruger and Bnxn, often known as Buju, two of the scene’s most gifted stars. Their disparate skills fostered a never-ending discussion about who was the best. However, 2024 has turned the story around in the most surprising way.
Ruger and Bnxn announced their first-ever collaboration in a move that stunned the whole music business. The collaborative single, Romeo Must Die (RMD), combines the greatest elements of both genres and was produced expertly by Kukubeats.
Ruger’s recent announcement of leaving Jonzing World and starting his own record company, Blown Boy Entertainment, was a sea change. It appears that this newfound freedom brought with it new alliances, the most unexpected of which was with Bnxn.
