Vincent Kompany, the manager of Burnley, has addressed the media speculation linking him to Chelsea Football Club for the first time.
On April 23, 2023, Kompany received the Manager of the Year award from the EFL. After joining the team in the summer of last year, he led Burnley back to the Premier League.
The name of the former Manchester City manager, who is anticipated to take the helm of the Blues in the dugout next season, came as a surprise.
“Sorry, but that’s a lost question, I always feel a little sorry for the journalist who asks the question, because you won’t get any answer in return. Before the start of this season, I made a commitment not to stir up speculation about my future. No, I am not going to talk about it.”
Additionally, he declared that he is not eager to engage in any of these discussions.
“I have said I am not engaging in any of these conversations. I have too much of this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches. That’s the only thing I care about.”
Both Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have dropped out of the running to manage Chelsea. However, Mauricio Pochetinho is now the front-runner to succeed Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
