The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme aims to create a revolutionary network of youth and organisations in Africa that promotes fair and inclusive socioeconomic development. Nearly 45,000 African youth have benefited from the Program’s assistance in pursuing secondary or postsecondary education since its establishment in 2012.
In order to facilitate the success of scholars and youth throughout Africa, we are aware that structural obstacles in postsecondary education must be addressed, capabilities must be reinforced, creative solutions in vital areas must be encouraged, and ecosystem actors must be linked in order to maximise our influence throughout the continent.
The Programme seeks to establish the circumstances necessary for young people to obtain inclusive and relevant education, make a seamless transition into dignified and fulfilling employment, and lead transformative lives by collaborating with young people, universities, NGOs, and other higher education stakeholders.
