Pep Guardiola Explains Why Joao Cancelo Left Manchester City

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has revealed why Joao Cancelo joined Bayern Munich.

Guardiola was speaking during a news conference prior of the Etihad Stadium match against Tottenham on Match Day 22. He stated that his departure from the Premier League Champions was due to a lack of game time for the Portuguese.

Cancelo is constantly eager to play, and he need it in order to be happy. He wants to play every game and, ideally, he will be able to do so at Bayern. I’m not sure what will happen with Joo next season. I won’t say anything negative about his work ethic, enthusiasm, or talents.

Cancelo joined Bayern Munich on loan for the remainder of the season during the 2023 January transfer window. The agreement does, however, have a £71 million purchase clause.
