Patrick Amenuvor, a content producer and photographer from Ghana, is attempting to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest consecutive marathon run by a single person.
This project comes soon after the previous endeavors of other Ghanaians, including Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s attempt to break the record for the longest solo singing marathon and Chef Faila’s goal to break the record for the longest solo culinary marathon.
But less than five hours into the marathon, which had its start at the GEM church in North Legon and would have seen Patrick Amenuvor standing resolutely to break a record, it was called off.
According to a press release from Patrick Amenuvor’s crew, the photographer was forced to withdraw from the Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt due to infractions.
“Due to my integrity and desire to win by fair play I wish to inform all of my intention to stop my OFFICIAL STAND-A-THON attempt due to some rules I’ve broken which might sabotage my efforts to break the record,” added the message.
It went on, saying, “At this juncture, I think it’s appropriate to reconvene with my team to assess our current endeavor and ensure that we don’t make any mistakes that could impede our next try. Patrick Amenuvor wants to tell everyone that he is still here and to thank everyone who has supported him during this whole process.
“I’m not going to sleep on the dream of STAND-A-THON.” I’ll announce the new date on all of my social media accounts. “We appreciate Ghana’s support,” the statement said in its conclusion.
