The three-day music festival, which honors African music (Afro Nation) and culture, had another wonderful display on its second day.
African music icons like Wizkid, Asake, Black Sherif, BNXN, and a long list of others were among the performers at the current 2023 Afro Nation in Portugal who made the crowd have a wonderful time.
Since its founding in 2013, the well-known festival has continued its yearly practice of traveling to various regions of the world, including the continent of Africa, to celebrate.
The festival, which is slated to take place in Portimao, Portugal, from June 28 to 30, 2023, already had a star-studded first day of activity. The party continued with incendiary performances from big names like Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Popcaan, Aya Nakamura, and a host of others.
The second day of the event, which was held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, featured a scorching performance by the Ghanaian phenomenal rapper Black Sherif. He sang a number of songs, including Kweku the Traveler and Sad Boys Don’t Fold, with vigor.
Daniel Benson, a talented Nigerian singer-songwriter better known by his stage as BNXN (also known as Buju), also performed, inspiring the crowd to sing along to popular songs like In My Mind, Gwagalada, Testimony, Finesse, Feeling, and others.
As the evening’s pace quickened, YBNL and Empire neo-fuji star Asake made a spectacular stage debut by riding a bicycle onto the platform. As was to be expected, the enthusiastic audience was giddy to see the performer. Sungba, Loaded, Dull, Joha, Amapiano, 2:30, Palazzo, Organize, and other popular songs were included in Asake’s set, which included a mind-blowing performance by the artist. The singer let his adrenaline take over and jumped into the audience, which was one of the night’s highlights.
Wizkid, a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, had a spectacular performance to top off the evening. His aura of superstardom swept through the audience. Big Wiz arrived with a bag full of songs, dishing out hits like Come Closer, Joro, Daddy Yo, Essence, Caro, Bad to Me, Soco, and many more. It’s interesting how Wizkid perked things up with a passionate cover of the classic Turn Me On by Vincentian singer Kevin Lyttle.
The top performers in Afrobeats, Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall, Amapiano, Afro House, and other genres are consistently gathered by Afro Nation. It is anticipated that a number of artists, including Davido, 50 Cent, Booba, Fireboy DML, Gabzy, Sauti Sol, Gyakie, and others, would play at this year’s Portugal edition.
