Concerns grew after recent videos showed the once-renowned hiplife artist looking frail and distressed. Kwadee, known for his captivating storytelling and hit songs, has been absent from the music scene for nearly a decade, reportedly due to mental health challenges.

Speaking in a phone interview on UTV’s United Showbiz, his mother expressed her worries, revealing:
“We have reported his disappearance to the police but have yet to receive any updates. I haven’t seen my son in five days.”

Her remarks follow journalist Ohemaa Woyeje’s revelation that Kwadee’s mother is hesitant about his return to music. Woyeje explained,
“His mother believes that once he recovers, he will go back to music, but she does not want him to.”

Kwadee, born Jerry Anaba, rose to fame in the early 2000s with iconic tracks such as Abrantie, Ofie Nipa, and Ataa Adwoa. His unique voice and powerful storytelling cemented his status in Ghana’s hiplife industry. However, his career was cut short by persistent mental health struggles and alleged substance abuse.

Over the years, several notable figures, including music producer Abraham Ohene Djan and ex-rapper-turned-evangelist Lord Kenya, have tried to help him seek professional treatment. However, reports suggest that resistance from his family has hindered these efforts.

The latest viral videos have reignited public concern, with many urging immediate intervention to prevent further deterioration. Musicians and fans alike are calling on the Ghanaian music industry to unite in supporting Kwadee during this critical time.

His situation serves as a stark reminder of the need for mental health awareness and the collective responsibility to support individuals facing such challenges, especially those who have contributed significantly to society through their craft.
