YouTube announced on Thursday that it is developing new plans for its YouTube Premium subscriptions.
According to a community post by a team member named Hazel, the company aims to offer more plan options in additional regions and explore ways for users to share benefits with friends.
Currently, YouTube Premium offers a few subscription plans: Individual for $13.99 per month (or $139.99 annually), Family for $22.99 per month, and Student for $7.99 per month. Subscribers receive perks such as ad-free videos, the ability to download videos for offline viewing, and ad-free access to the YouTube Music library.
Additionally, YouTube is introducing new features for Premium subscribers. An AI-powered “jump ahead” feature, which recently launched on Android, will be available on iOS in the coming weeks. On Android, Premium users will be able to watch YouTube Shorts in picture-in-picture mode, similar to a feature already available on TikTok.
Premium subscribers will also have access to several experimental features, including automatic downloads of batches of Shorts for offline viewing, a conversational AI assistant (reintroduced after a previous test), and a redesigned watch page on desktop. These features were highlighted in both the community post and a separate blog post.
