Rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, better known by his stage name Medikal, hails from Ghana and has stated that he is unaffected by pressure from up-and-coming artists.
He sees his career as having begun at the beginning, and the strong foundation he has laid throughout the years is the source of his confidence in his current role.
Medikal stressed in a Bryt TV interview that showing off a lifestyle is just as important to his career as selling music. He made it clear that he is picky about accepting invites to shows, saying he will never hesitate to turn one down if he doesn’t feel like it.
He made clear, though, that just because he gets paid doesn’t mean he will put up with rudeness; he still chooses when and where to come up.
I want you to know that I am not simply selling music; I am selling a way of life. I’m not your average rapper. I choose the shows I want to see; money is not an issue for me.
I won’t come if I don’t feel like it. I make the decision to go where I want to go. But I make it clear to individuals that just because you’ve paid me doesn’t mean you can treat me disrespectfully; I choose to come when I want to,” he stated.
While getting compensated is a factor, Medikal made it clear that he will not put up with disrespect. He affirmed his independence by saying he gets to decide where and when to appear.
