Amy Newman, a well-known gospel singer, has disclosed that her amazing cooking abilities were the reason behind her marriage.
Repudiating the notion that men marry for their love of food, Mrs. Newman revealed that her husband was enthralled with her ability to make light soup, and the rest is history.
Amy Newman confessed that one of the main reasons she got married young was because of her early discovery of her culinary talent.
Looking back, she said, the requirements for finding a husband were simple in her day; men looked for women who could take care of the home.
She acknowledged that food had a role in her own marriage and said, “It’s true that some men get married because of food. For example, in my situation, light soup led to my husband and me getting married. Even though I was young at the time, I could cook really well. Food was a great way to win spouses back then; it all came down to cooking and serving your partner.”
In response to complaints that Ghanaian jollof was flavorless—especially in light of Hilda Baci’s comments—Amy Newman defended the national meal. With assurance, she said, “I don’t think our jollof isn’t good. My jollof is sizeless. I possess the abilities and creativity to create delicious dishes.”
