Rapper Medikal from Ghana has publicly stated how underappreciated he feels in the country’s music scene.
He feels that his distinct approach and persistent work have not been given the credit and acknowledgment they so richly merit
Medikal expressed these sentiments and stressed how he has been able to separate his identity from his artistic character while thinking back on some of his major accomplishments in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM.
He once said, “I feel like I’m underappreciated sometimes. I am aware of how to cut ties with the Medikal brand. Some people wear the brand as part of their persona. Sometimes when I see my concerts, I’ll sit down and think, “This guy is dope.” I have been able to stay relevant for a long time because of this. It’s not simple.”
Medikal went on to say that he thought the Ghanaian public should give him more credit and praise. He made it clear that while he is not ungrateful, he feels that his consistent hard work should be recognized.
“I feel underappreciated; they ought to give my flowers to me.” I don’t mean to come across as ungrateful; I just think there ought to be more light directed toward me. I’m a highly diligent person, therefore Ghanaians shouldn’t underestimate me. I should be getting more attention,” he said.
Medikal defended his strategy when asked if his unusual style would be a factor in the lack of attention, responding, “I’m doing everything right.” Simply said, people find it difficult to accept my unique style.”
Medikal is currently Ghana’s fastest-rising musician and has captivated the hearts of many Ghanaians with his hiphop music.
