The English Premier League’s governing board has named the manager of the month for January 2023.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, was selected the winner of the award for the second time this season. Since Pep Guardiola in November and December 2021, the Spaniard is the only person in Premier League history to have accomplished this feat.
Arteta has won the accolade five times, three of which have come this season. In 2019/20, he is two awards away from breaking Jurgen Klopp’s record of five in a single season.
After public votes were merged with those of a panel of football experts, the 40-year-old knocked out fellow contenders Steve Cooper, Roberto De Zerbi, Unai Emery, and Thomas Frank.
