Rumors are swirling that Kwame Sefa Kayi, popularly known as the “Chairman General” of morning radio in Ghana, has joined Sompa FM’s Accra division, one of the country’s most listened-to radio stations.
Sefa Kayi’s absence from his regular Peace FM morning show since the beginning of the year has fueled speculation about his next career move.
Media industry insiders suggest that he may have joined Sompa FM, a relatively new media house that began test transmissions in November 2024 across multiple locations. Sompa FM, which broadcasts in Accra on 106.5FM, is part of a broader network that includes stations in Takoradi (103.3FM), Tarkwa (101.1FM), and Techiman (106.1FM), making up a total of seven radio stations and two television channels.
Sompa FM’s rapid expansion signals a significant investment in Ghana’s media landscape. If the rumors were true, the addition of a high-profile figure like Kwame Sefa Kayi would be a major move, potentially reshaping the competitive morning radio scene.
However, in a recent interview, Kwame Sefa Kayi debunked the claims, clarifying that he is currently on leave and has not joined Sompa FM.
