In response to critics who question his wardrobe choices, highlife artist Kuami Eugene says that he deliberately sacrificed his style to ensure a brighter future for his family.
In a recent Live TikTok session with Nana Donkor Arthur, the 2020 VGMA Artiste of the Year and Lynx Entertainment signee disclosed that his design choices are a deliberate compromise to better his family’s living circumstances rather than being haphazard.
When questioned about why he doesn’t seem to care about people who call him out for having “poor fashion sense,” the Monica crooner said that his dedication to providing a better life for his family comes before living a more ostentatious lifestyle.
He informed the host that he could not disregard his family’s lack of a good home to live for a luxury lifestyle, and he shared the challenges he had in the early years of his profession and his resolve to do everything in his power to change his tale.
“After my previous experiences, I made a promise to put my family’s well-being ahead of my fashion lifestyle. We weren’t doing well when I delivered my popular song, “Angela.” During that period, I continued to take “Trotro.” After “Angela,” my first trip to the UK coincided with the appearance of some significant money, which I used to support my family before turning my attention to my lifestyle. “If I wasn’t dressing well, it was because I had to change my family’s fate before focusing on myself,” he remarked.
“Now my mum owns a house, rides her own car, before we were sleeping in a box at Kaneshie but now things have changed,” he said with joy. Now, every sibling of mine owns a car. Everyone is now happy, so even though I’m having a good time, they can understand because I’ve raised my family well.
Before casting judgment, he asked his detractors to take the context of his decisions into account.
