Award-winning Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene, also known as Eugene Kwame Marfo, recently discussed why he will never collaborate with Guru in an interview.
The “Angela” hitmaker claims that, until Guru chose to disparage him and his family in a number of interviews and songs, they had never had a disagreement.
Speaking with Deloris Frimpong Manso on the Delay show over the weekend, the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year revealed that Guru, also known as Maradona Yeboah Adjei in private, has a short fuse. He emphasized that the ‘Lapaz Toyota’ hitmaker slighted him, which is a behavior he can’t stand by any means.
“I didn’t have a problem with Guru but now, I have a problem with him because he has offended my family. He spent time in the studio insulting me and a man who claimed to be my father. Guru is a grown-up, so I didn’t expect him to behave in that manner,’’ he stated.
In a series of tweets, Guru criticized the Lynx Entertainment signee for being unappreciative and, to a greater extent, cautioned him of the effects his future departure from Lynx would have on his karma.
The song “Who Born Dog?” was published by Guru in 2021 as a protest against Kuami’s refusal to work with him on a song.
But according to Eugene, “I wouldn’t have been Kuami Eugene but for Richie; so, I expect that respect is accorded him no matter the differences that exist. I am under Lynx Entertainment and any song I produce needs to go through them.”
