His managers just posted a statement on his Instagram account with a number of updates and clarifications to address persistent misunderstandings and misinformation around his passing.

Released on January 15, 2024, a few months following Mohbad’s demise, the statement emphasized the continued collaboration with law enforcement to guarantee elucidation and resolution for all stakeholders. It was disclosed that the Police authorities had carried out an inquiry and informed that it would take several months before the autopsy results from samples sent overseas were made public.

The message also addressed spreading incorrect information, denying, as mistakenly claimed, the existence of a will or any document with thumbprints. It was emphasized that neither Mohbad’s management team nor his attorney had informed any family members or members of the public about the existence of such a document. Everyone was advised in the message to avoid spreading rumors and misinformation.

The Instagram managers also disclosed that on September 12, 2023, all accounts that Mohbad owned or controlled during his lifetime were immediately placed on a Post No Debit order, which is still in effect today. Post No Debit orders are restrictions placed by banks on particular accounts that prohibit users from making withdrawals, transfers, or any other debits from those accounts. They disclosed that the accounts would be appropriately transferred to the family following the settlement of the internal conflict.

A week after Mohbad’s death, the number of individuals playing his songs on Spotify increased dramatically, and his Instagram following jumped from little over a million to two million, indicating a major spike in public interest in the wake of his death. The public’s and celebrities’ emotional reactions to the ongoing disputes and disclosures surrounding his death have brought attention to the intricacies of the Nigerian entertainment business.

While the public and the entertainment business continue to struggle with the loss of the gifted artist, the statement released by Mohbad’s Instagram management is an important step toward clearing up confusion and bringing clarity to the situation.
