The Nigerian musician Kizz Daniel, who was detained in Tanzania for skipping this year’s “Summer, Amplified” festival, has apologized to his fans and promised a free performance.
On Monday, August 8, 2022, Kizz was detained for failing to perform on stage after receiving a reported payment of an incredible $60,000.
He was apprehended by the police in the afternoon and freed in the evening.
On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, Kizz Daniel informed fans during a press conference that the performance will continue and be free.
“We agreed to put up a show on Friday. A free show. So, I will be partnering with Str8up Vibes.”
Str8 UpVibes, is an Event Organiser and Promoter based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa.
“Also, I must apologise to the fans. None of this was intentional. I love my job. Mainly, I love performing,” he went on.
“I didn’t mean to disrespect the fans. It was never intentional. I wanted to perform. I came to Tanzania to perform, but due to some circumstances way over my power, we couldn’t make that happen.”
I apologize to Tanzanians once more, and I hope you will give me another chance to perform for you in a proper and beautiful manner, the famous singer continued.
The Afropop performer explained how, upon arriving in Nairobi from Kampala, the plane he was intended to catch, a connecting flight, had already taken off in order to explain what prevented him from attending the “Summer, Amplified” concert.
After spending eight hours in Nairobi, he finally boarded a flight at 8:30 that night, and when he landed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, he claimed he discovered some of his items had been left behind.
He recalled, “The organisers assured me we’d get other equipment. We arrived at the hotel at 9 pm and sent my band to the hall to practice. Unfortunately, the band failed because the fans had already entered the venue.
To purchase clothing, I made an attempt to contact the local designers. I was informed that the place was already unsafe when I made the decision to leave. The organizers and us decided to apologize to the fans and schedule another event, the outraged fans said. On the second day, word got out and the cops followed me to the hotel to ask me about what had transpired rather than to arrest me.
Angry supporters attacked the venue in social media videos when the artist failed to appear on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
