Halide users who have updated their iPhones to iOS 18 can now easily access the advanced camera app directly from the lockscreen without needing to unlock their phone first, something previously only possible with Apple‘s native camera app.
While Halide offers advanced features like manual shutter speed control and a “Process Zero” option for unprocessed images, Apple’s camera app was faster to access due to its lockscreen shortcut. Although Halide could be added via a lockscreen widget, it still required unlocking the phone with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode to use.
However, unlike Apple’s camera app, Halide isn’t free. It requires a subscription costing $2.99 per month, $19.99 per year, or a one-time purchase of $59.99.
