Guinness World Records has finally replied to Ghanaian event organiser Afua Asantewaa’s quest to break the record for the longest singing marathon by a single individual.
Afua Asantewaa finished her Guinness World Record quest to break the record for the longest individual singing marathon on December 29, 2023.
Asantewaa sung for 126 hours and 52 minutes, breaking the previous record of 105 hours established by an Indian, Sunil Waghmare, in 2012.
On January 6, 2024, the event organiser submitted documentation of her singing attempt to Guinness World Records.
According to Guinness World Records’ official X(twitter) account, they began analysing Afua’s proof before Afua Asantewaa sought expedited assistance.
Guinness World Records stated that Afua’s sing-a-thon effort was a failure, however, they are looking forward to subsequent attempts by her in the future.

They wrote “Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Record attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon.
We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afia requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts.”
