Grammy Awards 2024 Confirm Official Date to Announce Nomination Lists for Various Categories

The date for the nomination list’s distribution in advance of the Grammy Awards in 2024 has been confirmed by the Recording Academy.

Since the official date for the release of the list of nominees for the Grammy Awards 2024 has been set, all eyes will be on the Recording Academy for the latter half of 2023. In advance of this date, new categories will be introduced, and it has been revealed that the 2024 Grammy Awards nominees list will be announced on November 10, 2023. Nigerian music fans are particularly thrilled about the Best African Music Performance category.

The new categories were characterized by the Recording Academy as,

    Best African Music Performance

A track and singles category honors songs that draw on distinctive regional expressions from all over the African continent. The Afrobeat, Afro-fusion, Afro Pop, Afrobeats, Alte, Amapiano, Bongo Flava, Genge, Kizomba, Chimurenga, High Life, Fuji, Kwassa, Ndombolo, Mapouka, Ghanaian Drill, Afro-House, South African Hip-Hop, and Ethio Jazz genres are just a few of the regional melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic traditions highlighted by this category.

    Best Pop Dance Recording

Recognizes songs and singles with fast-paced, danceable music that is organized in a pop style. With an emphasis on vocal delivery, melody, and hooks, eligible Pop Dance recordings also have considerable electronic-based instruments and strong rhythmic beats. Dance remixes can only be entered in the Best Remixed Recording category and not the Best Pop Dance Recording category.

    Best Alternative Jazz Album

This category honors outstanding artistic achievement in alternative jazz recordings by solo artists, duos, groups, and ensembles, whether they include vocals or not. Alternative jazz is a genre-fusing, boundary-pushing hybrid that combines jazz with other genres like R&B, Hip-Hop, Classical, Contemporary Improvisation, Experimental, Pop, Rap, Electronic/Dance music, and/or Spoken Word. Jazz is known for its improvisation, interaction, harmony, rhythm, arrangements, composition, and style. It might also use modern production methods and musical instruments used in other genres.

All 94 Grammy Award categories will be represented on the list of nominees. Havery Mason Jr., CEO of The Recording Academy, revealed Every procedure we implement, every revision or modification to our Awards process that is started, is done to improve the procedure’s fairness, transparency, and accuracy. And happily, we are now in a position to be able to make modifications when we discover anything that could be better. Everything you’re seeing right now is intended to be better and more accurate, to celebrate more music properly and in a manner that is relevant to today’s culture, and to ensure that the process is open, equitable, and functional.
