Google Maps has started integrating Waze incident reports into its navigation features, allowing users to confirm road conditions through prompts in the app. Back in July, Google announced plans to share more data between the two apps, including Waze-sourced updates on road closures, construction, speed cameras, and police presence.
This marks the first public sighting of the feature, but more sightings are expected as the rollout continues. Despite combining the teams behind Maps and Waze, Google Group Project Manager Can Comertoglu assured that the apps would remain separate, as both have unique features preferred by their respective user bases, including Waze’s 500,000-plus contributors.
