Actress Martha Ankomah has rejected Kumawood star Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win’s, public apology in the ongoing GH₵5 million defamation case, citing a lack of sincerity and an inadequate retraction. As a result, a revised apology meeting proper standards is anticipated as both parties explore an out-of-court settlement.
The High Court in Accra has adjourned the case to 25 February 2025, granting the parties time to finalize settlement terms. The recent hearing, held in chambers on 13 December 2024, lasted nearly three hours, during which both sides and their legal teams worked towards a resolution. Both Ankomah and Lil Win were present in court alongside their respective lawyers.
Ankomah’s demands include:
- GH₵5 million in damages for the defamatory remarks.
- Compensation for the harm caused to her reputation.
- Aggravated damages for the reckless and malicious nature of the statements.
- A court order mandating the publication of an apology and retraction with equal prominence.
While Lil Win’s legal team has formally responded to the suit, discussions are ongoing to reach an amicable resolution before the next court date.
