Elon Musk was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, a long-time friend and Tesla investor, last fall.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk is the world’s richest person, with an estimated fortune of $240 billion, while Brin is ranked eighth, with a $95 billion fortune.
Both were longtime friends, with Musk claiming that he had spent years staying at Brin’s home in Silicon Valley.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Brin’s divorce from Nicole Shanahan was prompted by the affair.
According to court documents, the two cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, and the documents were filed just weeks after Brin discovered the affair, according to the Journal.
According to people familiar with the situation who spoke to the Wall Street Journal, tensions between the two men and their teams have been rising in recent months.

According to a source close to the situation, Brin instructed his financial advisers to sell his investments in the Tesla CEO’s various businesses. Brin previously contributed $500,000 to Tesla in 2008.
Brin and Shanahan were separated but still living together at the time of the affair, which allegedly began in December 2021 at Art Basel in Miami.
According to sources, Brin and Shanahan were having marital problems at the time, which were primarily due to stressors related to COVID-19 and caring for their 3-year-old daughter.
The affair is also said to have begun after Musk and his girlfriend, Grimes, split up. Grimes and Musk have two children, the most recent being a daughter born via surrogate in the same month as the affair.
