I met a guy via Instagram and we got talking. He would always ask if my boyfriend is taking care of me. One day, he complained about the quality of my videos and said I should get an iPhone. I told him that I would get it later. He then said that I should dump my boyfriend for someone better if he can’t get me an iPhone. I told him that I am not his responsibility and if he buys me anything, it should be of his volition and not by unnecessary demands.
He then said that he would give me one, so I acted seriously and even said that I’ll collect it in person. He suddenly went offline and texted me the following year. He said he had an accident and he noticed that I’ve changed my phone so I must have changed my boyfriend. I let him know that I bought it myself and it’s the second one I’m using.
He gave me a distress call that same month saying that he’s stranded and needed to sort some things so I should borrow him 5k urgently and he will return it the next day. I thought he was joking, so he proceeded to make me feel like I didn’t want to help.
I sent him the money and didn’t ask for it for a month. When I asked for a refund, this guy suddenly changed the pattern and started telling me how his life is so bad. I kept wondering if this is not the same guy who always asked me to come to Lekki, the one who always try hard to make me know he was loaded.
He proceeded to block me on WhatsApp and IG because of ordinary 5k. He posts his girlfriend a lot and I keep wondering if she isn’t in a financial crisis right now because they would have finished her money if she has a job. This is how they lie their way into your panties. Don’t leave your man for lame reasons, try to make your own money. Asides from the respect you will get from people, you also respect yourself if you have a means of livelihood.
