Endurance Grand, a dancer and content developer, has stressed the need to acknowledge the contributions dancers make to songs, especially when it comes to important occasions like the Ghana Music Awards.
This was stated by her during a conversation that took place on Friday, March 22, 2024, during the African Music Business Dialogue, which had as its theme “Why Content Creators are the New Taste Makers in Music Marketing.”
A well-known person in the dance world, Endurance Grand, shared her thoughts about how little dancers’ work are valued and acknowledged.
Where exactly do I feel like I’m getting paid too little? I don’t get credit for the work I perform at that point,” she said.
She drew attention to the fact that, despite their considerable influence on songs, dancers are not given their own categories at ceremonies like the Ghana Music Awards.
“Looking at Ghana Music Awards, why isn’t there a category for dancers that are dedicated to songs, especially because we add a ‘salt bay’ to the song?” She asked.
Strong choreography should be featured in every music video released in Ghana, according to Endurance Grand, who also underlined the importance of dancers and musicians working together.
Through the moderating of Gideon Nicholas Day, the conversation also included perspectives from other speakers, such as Mr. Drew and Official Starter. The main idea was on how content producers are becoming essential influencers in the music industry and how their position is changing.
The words made by Endurance Grand illuminated the sometimes disregarded significance that dancers play in the music industry and urged relevant parties to take this into account and give them the credit and compensation they deserve.
