When Chef Faila talks about the inspiration behind her cook-a-thon, she breaks down in tears.
January 1, 2024, to January 10, 2024 was the 10-day cook-a-thon that the Ghanaian chef participated in. Chef Faila said she was ready to give it her all in the cook-a-thon kitchen, even if it meant risking her life.
Although Chef Faila had planned to cook for 120 hours, she instead cooked nonstop for 227 hours. She sobbed and said that she did it for the girls from the Northern region who are sometimes looked down upon when asked why she prolonged her stay.
“All the other hours in addition to the 120 hours, it was for my loved ones, it was for the people who supported me in my lowest… wonderful people who saw me in my lowest when I went into their offices, I tell them I am not looking for money to buy clothes, I am looking out for the kind of family I didn’t,” she continued.
She went on, crying, in a TV3 interview, “I am looking for an opportunity to have a history in my family to change the story about my family, about the North, about the vilification we young girls from this side of the country have gone through.”
Following the conclusion of her cook-a-thon today, Chef Faila Abdul Razak received a prompt response from Guinness World Records.
This happens when Chef Faila’s video, which announced the conclusion of her cook-a-thon, was posted on Twitter by Ghanaian TV host Olele Salvador, who is now known as X. Guiness World Records responded on the social media app, recognizing her attempt.
The GWR’s official X account tweeted, “We look forward to reviewing her evidence!” When the organization will make a decision regarding Chef Faila’s attempt is unknown, though.
