Saint Von Colucci, a 22-year-old Canadian-Portuguese actor, singer, and composer, died early on Sunday at Seoul’s National Hospital as a result of complications from his prior plastic surgery there.
In the past several months, the actor underwent twelve reconstructive operations in order to portray a KPOP idol role in a forthcoming Korean drama. Jimin, a Korean vocalist from the Korean band BTS, was intended to be the inspiration for the character’s appearance.
The actor has always been uneasy about how he appears in general in Korea and has experienced severe prejudice because of his Western characteristics. The actor spent over USD $200k on many procedures to alter his appearance and make him look more Asian.
He received a facelift, lip reduction, buccal fat removal, eye lift, jaw surgery, and other procedures.
At the age of 19, the actor initially relocated to South Korea after succeeding in an audition in Toronto, Canada, to work as a trainee at one of the country’s leading music entertainment companies.
Once in South Korea, the actor began doing odd jobs and penning songs for other KPOP artists and groups to supplement his income because the monthly stipend provided by his entertainment agency was insufficient to pay for his essential monthly needs.
The actor was hired in early 2023 to portray one of the lead characters in a new Korean drama that would air on a big American streaming service by the end of the year.
Close friends and relatives will attend Colucci’s burial in Seoul.
