Burna Boy is the first Nigerian artist in history to do this, joining Wizkid, Davido, CKay, and Tems in an elite group of musicians.

The only Nigerian musicians to sell over one million units in the US are Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and CKay, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Burna Boy was the most recent artist to do this when his popular song “Ye,” which was released in August 2018, acquired the RIAA’s Platinum certification in the US on Thursday, January 26, 2023. On May 3, 2021, the popular song “Ye” obtained its gold certification.

With their big single “Essence,” Wizkid and Tems, CKay with “Love Nwantiti,” and Davido with “Fall,” all got platinum certification.
