According to Burna Boy, he is not among the “Big 3” of Afrobeats.
The three top musicians in Nigerian mainstream music, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, are collectively referred to as the “Big 3” by fans.
Grammy-winning Nigerian megastar Burna Boy, however, has declared he doesn’t want to be categorized as one of the top 3.
The Grammy winner remarked, “Anytime they talk about a big 3, tell them there’s a big 2 and then there’s Burna Boy,” as the audience applauded enthusiastically before taking off the microphone.

The music icon, who has been on an unparalleled worldwide commercial run since his hit “YE” garnered international recognition in 2018, makes yet another classic chest-thumping declaration.
His 2019 album ‘African Giant’ received a 2020 Grammy nomination in the World Album category. Burna Boy won a Grammy in 2021 for his 2020 album “Twice As Tall,” making him the first musician working in the Nigerian music industry to do so.
Although Burna Boy’s stance that he is not one of the big three may come out as arrogant, he has truly distinguished himself has the awards to prove it.
As he is nominated in four categories for the 2024 Grammy Awards, Burna Boy will be looking to add to his collection of Grammy awards on February 5, 2024. His four nominations set a record for Nigeria, bringing his career total of nominations to ten, also a record.
