In a recent interview, Ayra Starr revealed how she came up with her stage name before the release of her debut album.
Ayra Starr, a talented singer and performer, spoke up about how she got her stage name in a recent podcast conversation with Joey Akan on Afrobeats Intelligence.
Ayra claimed that she had always gone by her true name, Oyin, but when she sat down with her team, Don Jazzy, Rema, and others, they discussed what stage name she should have. She admitted that she would have gone by the name ‘Aira,’ but that many people would pronounce it as ‘Ira,’ so she dropped the idea.
She opened up that her mum had to advised her to pray over it since she wanted a name that would mean something. Ayra revealed that she ended up googling the name ‘Ayra,’ which is Arabic, and when she saw the meaning, everything fell into place for the ‘Sability’ crooner.
