Over the weekend, the highly anticipated Rebel Salute Festival in Jamaica saw an incredible performance by Ghanaian reggae dancehall artist Stonebwoy.
The sole notable African performer engaged for the two-day concert, which took place in Plantation Cove in St Ann, Jamaica on January 20 and 21, 2023, was Stonebwoy, the CEO of Burniton Music Group.
Since its inception in 1994, the Rebel Salute Music Festival has taken place annually in Jamaica around January 15th, the day when reggae legend Tony Rebel was born (January 15th 1962).
The concert is regarded as one of the finest celebrations of Jamaican culture and music, and attendees may experience the top performers performing a variety of genres including reggae, dancehall, roots reggae, and reggae fusion.
The festival’s official name during a three-year sponsorship deal with PepsiCo was Pepsi Rebel Salute. The deal was pursued, according to the festival’s organizers, because Pepsi products were more consistent with the event’s policy, which forbids the consumption of alcohol and meat.
A variety of songs by Stonebwoy were played, including Therapy, Wame, Tuffseed, Hero, Gidigba, and some of his popular hits.
