The Association of Past Executives and Coordinators (APEC) was established solely to serve as a supervisory body for the Ashanti Regional Students’ Representative Council (ARSRC). APEC commenced with a small membership consisting of former student leaders who had previously served as executives of the ARSRC, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing and guiding others through the same ranks. With slightly over two decades of existence, the association has experienced remarkable growth in the professional, political, academic, and leadership depth of its members.
As of December 2023, APEC can proudly highlight key figures among its members, including an MP who also serves as a Deputy Minister of Finance [Dr. Lawyer John Kumah], a former Director of Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President of Ghana, and an NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Asawase Constituency [Manaf Ibrahim]. Other notable members include the Deputy CEO of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) [Louisa Atta-Agyemang] and three consecutive Presidents of the National Union of Ghana Students [Boakye Yiadom Emmanuel, Dennis Appiah Larbi Ampofo & Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel]. Additionally, APEC boasts of numerous practicing lawyers, health professionals, engineers, bankers, lecturers, public figures [Zion Felix – Popular Ghanaian Blogger, Collins Atta Poku- Popular Ghanaian Sports Personality, etc.], entrepreneurs, politicians, corporate workers, and student leaders.
Throughout the years, APEC-Ashanti members have served as mentors and role models for hundreds of secondary and tertiary-level students, playing a crucial role in shaping national and continental leaders. The Association actively advocates for women’s empowerment, social cohesion, and the promotion of non-violence in democratic discourses.
