An audio recording of late Ghanaian Gospel musician Jacob Ajola, offering valuable life advice to his younger brother, Eben, has rekindled conversations about his tragic death. The recording, shared on Accra’s Neat FM, captures Ajola’s heartfelt counsel, urging Eben to focus on prayer and build a stable future. “Do not neglect prayer. Take your finances seriously,” Ajola advised, encouraging Eben to prioritize self-improvement, achieve financial independence, and wait to marry until he was well-established. “When you’re established, you’ll find the right woman. Focus on yourself. Build yourself. Learn, pray, make money. Build yourself. I wish someone had given me this advice earlier,” he said.
Ajola highlighted the importance of financial stability, noting that financial hardship often strains relationships. “I’m not saying anyone is bad, but people will leave because you lack money. So, why not make the money? Build yourself,” he explained.
In his final words, Ajola expressed love for Eben and sought forgiveness, suggesting a surname change due to perceived negative associations. “You might not see me again… This struggle affected Dad too… You need a fresh start for your mind. I love you, Eben. I’m sorry I have to do this. Forgive me,” he said.
Ajola’s death by suicide in October 2024, accompanied by a heartbreaking note, has left his fans and the Christian community deeply saddened.
