Agya Koo, a veteran actor from Ghana, believes that his lack of jobs during a specific time period contributed to the downfall of the Kumawood film industry.
Speaking on Kumasi-based radio station Ezra FM, the well-known actor claimed to be the most marketable Ghanaian actor and stated that he felt that his exclusion had a big effect on the industry.
“After pushing me aside, they now falsely attribute the industry’s demise to the introduction of CDs. Sadly, Agya Koo said, “But they will not accept this fact.”
Agya Koo reflected on the once-vibrant Kumawood business, pointing out that his name was widely associated with Ghanaian cinema, particularly among the diaspora of Ghanaians, particularly in the United States.
He emphasized that, when people inquire about Ghanaian films, they would almost always ask, “Is Agya Koo in the cast?” Until he was sidelined, he claimed that this demonstrated his unparalleled marketability and influence at the time.
“People would always bring up the name Agya Koo when they wanted to watch Ghanaian movies, even though I wasn’t the only actor at the time.” “Why didn’t they ask for the name of someone else?” he said.
Agya Koo released a new song to support Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential campaign earlier this month, ahead of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential elections.
Agya Koo has made it clear that he supports the Assin Central Member of Parliament and has spoken out strongly about the businessman’s capacity to lead the nation following his defeat.
