Afua Asantewaa‘s teammate Eric Toscar has shared screenshots to bolster her allegation that she was unable to access her account logins when Guinness World Records (GWR) informed her of the outcome of her sing-a-thon effort.
“I would have shared it with Ghanaians regardless of its success or failure. I mentioned a misunderstanding that I had with GWR. My login account was involved; I’m not able to access it. I don’t even have any formal documentation to share on social media while I sit here. I’m unable to access my account,” she had said.
Reactions to her remark included accusations of dishonesty from certain people. Her justification was deemed problematic by them, as they maintained that she was aware of her disqualification but chose to hide it in order to continue reaping the rewards of taking on the task.
On February 26, 2024, Eric Toscar shared screenshots in an effort to refute the unfavorable narrative surrounding Afua Asantewaa. These photos captured her submitting money for expedited processing, her record attempt documentation being acknowledged by Guinness World Records, and her grieving at not being able to access her logins.
It is clear from the screenshots that Afua Asantewaa protested to Guinness World Records via Instagram on Thursday, February 22, one day before the results were made public, about not being able to access her account.
The organization responded by pledging to assist in resolving the matter.
