The preliminary results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private applicants, 2023 – Second Series, for 37,825 applicants have been released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
There were 16, applicants with visual impairments, 20,725 females, and 17,389 males in the admission pool.
The Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, stated in a statement that 1,231 registered candidates were not present.
It stated that until the investigations into the examination malpractice cases are finished, the results of 289 applicants who are allegedly implicated in various cases of malpractice have been withheld.
These violations include, but are not limited to, seeking outside help, introducing foreign objects into the examination room, impersonation, and cooperation.
The statement also advised the public to be on the lookout for con artists who get in touch with applicants and offer to improve their scores in exchange for a payment made via mobile money transfers.
Candidates should be aware that all results may be verified and that WAEC’s results database is highly secure. Therefore, it is recommended that institutions and organizations download the WAEC QR Code, utilize the online confirmation/verification service at the WAEC website, or confirm or verify the results that are provided to them directly from WAEC
