After years of partnership, Sonos and Ikea have officially ended their collaboration on the “Symfonisk” product line, which included items like lamp speakers, bookshelf speakers, and picture frame speakers. Sonos confirmed to The Verge that existing Symfonisk products are being phased out at Ikea stores globally, and no new devices will be developed. However, current products will continue to receive software support.
Erin Pategas, a Sonos spokesperson, shared via email that while the eight-year partnership with Ikea has come to a close, the company remains proud of their joint accomplishments and committed to supporting all existing Symfonisk devices so customers can continue to enjoy them.
Symfonisk products were known for integrating seamlessly with Sonos’ home audio system and offered more affordable alternatives to Sonos’ main product line. With stock dwindling, now may be the last opportunity to purchase these devices.
Despite the end of Symfonisk, the line has remained a popular, budget-friendly entry point into the Sonos ecosystem, especially for those seeking sleek, discreet home audio options. The bookshelf speaker, in particular, was well-regarded for its sound quality, though newer models like the Era 100 and Move 2 have since surpassed it.
Sonos is now focusing on refining its mobile software after a poorly received app redesign earlier this year. Interim CEO Tom Conrad emphasized that improving the core user experience is the company’s top priority. Earlier in the year, Sonos also scrapped its long-planned video player project, signaling a renewed focus on audio products.
