Ghanaian actress Kala Kumasi has called out VIP bus operators over poor vehicle maintenance and subpar customer service after she and other passengers were left stranded when their bus broke down near Nsawam.
The incident took place on Monday, April 29, 2025, during her trip from Kumasi to Accra for a media engagement. Known for her roles in Kumawood films and outspoken nature on social matters, Kala Kumasi described the journey as deeply frustrating. According to her, the bus broke down without warning, causing major delays. Though a replacement bus was eventually sent, it was already full, forcing Kala and several other passengers to stand all the way to Accra—a situation she described as humiliating and unacceptable.
She criticized VIP’s treatment of passengers, stating that customers pay for safety and comfort, not to be abandoned or treated poorly. Kala used the incident to urge the Ministry of Transport and other regulators to take stricter action against such transport companies, demanding higher safety and service standards.
