Ghanaian musician Kelvynboy, known for his hit “Down Flat,” has voiced his frustration and disappointment with his former mentor, Stonebwoy. He accused Stonebwoy of employing “mafia tactics” to hinder his career progression and success in the music industry.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) today, Kelvynboy expressed that Stonebwoy’s actions have tarnished his reputation and turned many Ghanaians against him. However, he added that despite the challenges, he continues to thrive through grace.
“What do you really want from me, bro? You’ve defamed me and turned most Ghanaians against me because you’re seen as a saint who can do no wrong. I can’t reach the heights I should because of your underhanded tactics, but grace is still working for me,” he shared.
Kelvynboy joined Burniton Music Group, led by Stonebwoy, as an artist whose Afrobeat style complemented Stonebwoy’s reggae/dancehall sound. Their collaboration initially seemed promising, with Kelvynboy emerging as one of Ghana’s rising stars. However, rumors of tension surfaced in 2019, with Kelvynboy accused of being ungrateful and disrespectful. Some insiders suggested Kelvynboy felt overshadowed and undervalued under Stonebwoy’s leadership.
By September 2019, Burniton Music Group announced Kelvynboy’s contract termination, citing “structural challenges.” This marked the end of their professional relationship, though the animosity between them persisted. Over time, the two exchanged subtle jabs on social media—Stonebwoy hinting at betrayal, while Kelvynboy expressed frustration over being misunderstood.
In 2020, tensions peaked when Kelvynboy was allegedly attacked during an event in Ashaiman. While Stonebwoy denied any involvement, fans speculated his team might have been connected, given the circumstances.
Despite their ongoing feud, Kelvynboy has made attempts to reconcile, often reaching out through media platforms. On one occasion, he even publicly knelt to apologize to Stonebwoy, asking for forgiveness and hoping to mend their relationship.
