TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is scheduled to meet with President-Elect Donald Trump on Monday as the platform faces a potential ban in the U.S., according to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. Chew joins other tech leaders, such as Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who have also met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
TikTok recently lost its appeal in court regarding a ban-or-divest law set to take effect on January 19th and has now requested the Supreme Court’s intervention. Although Trump initially spearheaded the push to ban TikTok due to national security concerns, he began to soften his stance earlier this year.
In March, he expressed opposition to a TikTok ban, stating, “Without TikTok, you can make Facebook bigger, and I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people.” Trump later joined TikTok in June.
